Back-up plan

Plan A - I think it would be appropriate to use my Italian paste in making my Venice journal.

Of course, that might be a problem if it's been sitting on the shelf for about ten years and has completely dried up.
Plan B - cut the label off the can to use in the Venice journal........

Hand Posse

I have a secret Hand Posse who helps me keep my hands warm.  And they don't even know they are my hand posse!

When it gets cold, I wear these fingerless gloves that my friend Kelly made for me.  It was just a random conversation on a hot August day that led her to offer to make them.  Now, when I am busy typing on a cold winter's day, I can at least have warm hands.  Thank you, Kelly!

But when it gets really cold, I have to bring out the big guns! My friend Jennifer made these mittens out of recycled sweaters. Jennifer lives in Alaska, so she knows what cold is! I can't type in these, but I have been wearing them a lot lately when I'm out and about in the cold weather. You are so clever, Jennifer!  I love my "smittens" (or "swittens"?)

This is also a test to see if I can post pictures again.  I did a search (not a Google search, but a Bing search) and, lo and behold, found other people with the same problem I have.  They had several work-arounds, and this one appears to work.  No excuses now for lazy blog behavior!

I am Busy Journaling

I have been working on a new journal this year.  It is a haphazard, sort of a week-in-review journal, with odds and ends of leftover scraps and thoughts of whatever I was doing that week.  I sure wish I could show it to you, but after two hours of trying to load pictures, installing new versions of stuff, and getting frustrated, well, you'll just have to take my word for it.  That is all.

P.S. - Aha!  Here is my work-around solution.  Posted pictures here on Flicker.
I'll show you, Mr. Bloggity Blog Blogger!

Mother Lode

I am moving at turtle speed on my Venice book.  Slow, very slow.  I did get the cover cut apart.

The back cover has one of those paper pads with the cardboard inserted through a slit in the cover.  There is no paper left in the pad, but I decided to leave it there.  I will put some nice art paper over it, maybe collage some stuff on it.  It can be lifted, and maybe I'll put more envelopes under it to store little parts to be used on the journal pages.

I've been assembling and cutting pages, printing out bits of stuff, making up my mind on things then changing my mind.  It's the process that goes along with making a journal.  Below, I printed out Mary Ann's class logo, making it postage size and printing out a strip of them.
Gaye let me come to her house and go through her stuff looking for things to use.  In the Oddities drawer of her flat file, I found some maps and cool postcards.  She also let me have some transparencies, some scrapbook papers, and I borrowed a rubber stamp.

After that, we had a quick lunch and made a run over to the Paper Source store that has only been open in Louisville about a year.  Love going there!  It's worth a purchase just to get their pretty bag and catalog!  I also got some very cool washi map tape.  Perfect for a travel journal.
Blogger does not like me much today.  I had to jump through so many hoops to upload these few pictures, I am about ready to switch to TypePad.  Really.

Happy New Year, since it is already the 5th of January and I am just now posting for the first time this year!!!
