Brown Things

I've been stuck on a project lately, one I've had on my desk for way too long. It is a "true colors" RR, and the book's theme is Forest Floor. I had glued some leaves to the page, and then decided to add a bird trinket shadowbox from Coffee Break. (FYI, Mike Meador from Coffee Break is the world's leading authority in laser cutterology). Instead of painting the bird, I covered it with a scrap of fabric. It turned out really nice. And there was another scrap of the fabric laying there that looked just like a wing, so I glued that on there too. I think I can proceed with this page now and be happy with it. The picture does not do it justice.

And speaking of coffee (?), every now and then, I take the leftover coffee in the coffee pot, pour it into a large baggie, and put in some cheesecloth or gauze, or maybe put some watercolor paper in a tray and pour the coffee on top of it. In the back of my head, in the part that holds the seeds of ideas, there is a coffee stained book using all these things. It will get done, some day, some way.

License to Play

Got these cool miniature license plates at an antique mall in Indiana, where Gaye and I shopped on the way home from a road trip. One set had all Canadian plates, the other was tropical locations. Wouldn't they make neat book covers?

Next Step

Now, boys and girls, I will try to post a picture and see if I am successful.

I notice that some people post pictures of their feet, in interesting places and on interesting surfaces.

Since I work two jobs, my feet don't go many places. However, since I work at home, I rarely wear shoes. On special occasions, however, I might break out the sock monkey slippers from Target.

I also notice people sometimes take a picture of a tasty plate of food they are about to enjoy. I'll have to think about that one.

It's a Blog

To blog or not to blog. It's something I have been considering lately, and so I have taken the plunge. Why blog? Because I am so fabulously witty and entertaining that the world cannot go another second without my input on the mundane things of life! Sure.... Actually, I do have trepidations, since I seem to work 90 percent of the time, so how can I possibly keep up with a blog? On the other hand, I am so inspired by reading other people's blogs and seeing their artwork, that I think this may provide me with a jump start to another level of art making and creativity. That is my hope at any rate.

So, if I blog, what will I call it? I went through a dictionary of obscure and weird words. I decided on Kerfuffle. It loosely means commotion or fuss; confusion and disorder. I feel like that is my life most of the time. When I get organized and my life is ordinary, I'll call this blog Boring Perfection.
